Core Golf Academy student Anthony Truong claimed his first victory of the year this past weekend in the Boys 13- 15 division of the FCWT at Black Diamond Ranch. Truong shot a two day total of 150, including a final round 74 on the difficult Quarry Course, which was good enough for a four stroke victory.
Core Head Coach Mark Burke was thrilled with Truong's win. "Anthony has been close a few times before. He's stayed focused and worked extremely hard so its wonderful to see him get his first win in the United States. I have no doubt that this is just the tip of the iceberg for him," said Burke.
in addition to Truong, there were plenty of other Core Golf Academy students at the top of the leaderboard this weekend. In the Boys 13- 15 division, Core's Priyanshu Singh finished alone in second place, while Hasan Kurt and Jonathan MacDonald finished in a tie for third.
In the Boys 16- 18 division, first round leader Jake Solomon finished alone in third place, while Talin Rajendranath and Jake Shuman tied for fourth place. Shuman shook off a tough first day and skyrocketed up the leaderboard with a final round 68-- the low round of the tournament.
All told, seven Core students recorded top five finishes, while 10 students earned top 10 finishes.
Core students are back in action this weekend at the FCWT at Reunion Resort.
