Isabel Southard got her Core Golf career off to a hot start by finishing second in the girls division of the Mission Inn Challenge at El Campeon Golf Course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Ben of Toronto fired a second round 74 after opening with a 77 in the cold and wind for a 151 total to edge Jose Lopez of Veracruz, Mexico by a stroke in the boy’s 16-18 division. It was Ben’s second FCWT win--his first was in 2008--and follows a third place finish at a IJGT event  in December.

Other Core Golf students in the Top 15 were Kyle Sayani of Mississauga, Ontario, T3 (79-75-154); Evan Littlefield of Thunder Bay, Ontario, T6 (75-81-156); Wil Bateman of Edmonton, Alberta, T9 (75-83-158); and Sam Jackson of Cambridge, Ontario, T11 (80-79-159).

Isabel Southard of Sharon, Massachusetts, who started at the academy this semester, finished second in the girls division with a 75-77 for a 152 to finish two strokes back of winner Audrey Monssoh of Los Angeles.

“It was a great tournament for Ben, Isabel and our players. With five boys in the Top 15, it shows that our players know how to manage their games in tough conditions,” said Tom Jackson, Director of Instruction.

“It capped a great week when Sean O’Hair was around the academy working with our PGA Tour coach Sean Foley.

“We’re also really happy to welcome Isabel and Patrick Goodhue of Ottawa, Ontario to the academy for our second semester.”
