Core Golf's Anna Young notches first Florida win

ORLANDO, Florida (January 23, 2011)—Core Golf Academy student Anna Young overcame blustery conditions on the weekend to win her first Future Collegians World Tour event on the first hole of a playoff.

The 17-year-old native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan hit the green in two on the par-five 10th hole in the playoff and two-putted for birdie and the win at the IMG Academies Golf & Country Club in Bradenton, Florida.

She fired a great 73 in the wind on Sunday to force the playoff after opening with a 77 in the first round to trail leader So Young Hwang of South Korea by a shot.

The reigning Saskatchewan women’s amateur and junior champion has had a solid FCWT season with three top-three finishes, including a second last week at Black Diamond Ranch.

“Anna is a very solid young player and a hard worker,” said Jeff Hay, Core’s Director of Operations. “All the hard work that she’s been putting in has been paying off.

“She has been close in recent weeks and it was her time to win. Before the round, we talked about being ‘her day.’ She took her fate into her own hands and got the job done.”
