Core Golf’s Chase Thurston bolts up points list of the Future Collegians World Tour
ORLANDO, Florida (June 19, 2009)—Chase Thurston came to the Core Golf Junior Academy in August as a good junior player, but not a great one.
By the end of the year, Thurston of Haliburton, Ontario was among the top 10 per cent of boys in the 16-18 division of the Future Collegians World Tour’s (FCWT) All-American Points list.
Thurston, 18, won a FCWT event in March in Wesley Chapel, Florida and played well in all six tour events he competed this season, racking up 6,500.00 points. The week before his FCTW victory, he won a Florida Junior Tour event in Tallahassee.
“It’s incredible to see the progress that Chase has made since he started at the Academy,” said Jeff Hay, Director of Operations at Core Golf Junior Academy in Orlando, Florida.
“Chase is a gifted young athlete. The success he’s seeing now is just the beginning, especially if he continues to work hard with his Core Golf coaches.”
“I’m pretty pleased with the year I’m having,” said Thurston. “I feel like I’m gaining some invaluable tour experience against the best international competitors my age. I feel confident that my performance will keep getting more consistent with each event.”
Competing on the top junior tours is a key part of the Core Golf Junior Academy program, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talent for university coaches and scouts and to develop their tournament skills.
Led by PGA Tour coaches Sean Foley, Dr. Craig Davies and Neale Smith, the Core Golf Junior Academy provides intensive instruction, coaching and private education for young golfers who are determined to fulfill their dreams on and off the golf course.
The junior academy is part of the Core Golf Academy which provides high-quality instruction to all levels of players at three Greater Toronto Area facilities: Core Golf Downtown Academy in Toronto, The Academy at Piper’s Heath Golf Club in Oakville and the Core Golf Academy at Physiomed-Premier Fitness Oakville.
Nike Golf Canada is the official sponsor of the Core Golf Academy and supplies apparel, equipment, balls and footwear to Core Golf Academy instructors and to Core Golf Junior Academy students.
