CGJA students Vandermade and Kirby finish 1-2 in Florida

ORLANDO, Florida (March 6, 2008) — Nicole Vandermade and Jennifer Kirby, students of Sean Foley at the Junior Golf Academy of Canada, placed first and second respectively this week in an event on the Florida Junior Tour.

In her first FJT event, Vandermade of Brantford, Ont., shot a final-round, one-under par 71 following a 74 to win by five shots in the 16-18 age division event at Southwood Golf Club in Tallahassee on March 1-2.

Showcasing her solid ball-striking, Vandermade, 17, hit 35 out of 36 greens.

Kirby, 17, of Paris, Ont., shot 74-76 to tie for second with Whitney Wenglasz, 17, of Florida.

“Jennifer and Nicole are the future of Canadian women’s golf,” said Foley, Director of Instruction of the Junior Golf Academy of Canada, based in Orlando, Florida.

“They are both bright and uber-athletic. Over the four years that I’ve been coaching them, I have always been impressed by them as players and people.”
