Arnold Palmer Invitational

This past weekend's Arnold Palmer Invitational came down to another spectacular finish with—who else?—Tiger Woods making a birdie putt on the final hole to win.

It was also a pretty exciting weekend for staff and students at the Core Golf Junior Academy, about 10 minutes away from Bay Hill in Orlando, Florida.

Runner-up Sean O'Hair is a student of Sean Foley, Director of Instruction of the Academy. O'Hair said Sunday was a good learning experience and that he's working hard on a swing change with Foley.

NBC analyst Johnny Miller talked approvingly on Saturday's broadcast about the changes that O'Hair was making with Foley, as were Frank Nobilo and Tim Rosaforte on The Golf Channel.

On Friday morning, Core Golf students and staff attended the tournament and followed Tiger, Stephen Ames and Hunter Mahan.

They also walked nine holes with Neale Smith, Core Golf's Director of Mental Performance and Mahan's mental coach. Smith talked to the students about what Mahan was doing during his round, and what they can learn from the pros.

"Our students have a tremendous advantage because they can spend time with coaches of PGA Tour players, who often come to the academy and talk to the students about the game," says Jeff Hay, Director of Operations and Admissions at the Academy.

Core Golf instructor Annie Mallory wrangled the students an invitation into the 18th tower of The Golf Channel where they met Kelly Tilghman and Brandel Chamblee who were preparing for the afternoon broadcast and they told the students about what they do. The students were thrilled.

Later, they watched Sean O’Hair shoot 65 and then complement coach Sean Foley on the work they are doing. It was a great capper to a terrific day for Core Golf Junior Academy students.
