Core Golf's Dr. Craig Davies: Rising star on PGA Tour and among top juniors
ORLANDO, Florida (March 5, 2009)—With PGA Tour clients such as Anthony Kim and Hunter Mahan, it's not a stretch to suggest that Dr. Craig Davies is one of the best-kept secrets in Canadian golf.
Not for long. Davies, a 31-year-old native of Niagara Falls, Ont., is stamping out quite a name for himself as the Director of Fitness and Nutrition with the popular Core Golf Junior Academy in Orlando, Fla.
His personal and comprehensive one-on-one tutelage also keeps Davies in high demand among some of the best players in the world, including PGA Tour regulars including Mahan, Kim, Stephen Ames, Robert Allenby, Parker McLachlin, Greg Kraft, John Rollins, as well as the Nationwide's Jon Mills.
Along with Core Golf's world-renowned swing coach Sean Foley and Performance Enhancement Consultant Neale Smith, Davies is a key part of one of the most dynamic instructional teams in the golf world.
"Craig, Sean and Neale provide us with an incredibly talented team of coaches," says Jeff Hay, Director of Operations at the Core Golf Junior Academy. "They are highly regarded on the PGA Tour by their clients and peers for their youthful energy, intelligence and innovative approaches to their respective fields."
"The three of us work extremely well together," Davies says of Foley and Smith. "With our academy kids, we need that teamwork mentality. If these kids are coming down to spend eight to ten months with us, we can't do anything half way."
Working with junior golfers has evolved into a family affair for Davies, a certified chiropractor. His wife Andrea is a teacher and also works at the Core Golf Junior Academy, tutoring players in their online Canadian studies and teaching English to players from foreign countries.
Despite his impressive PGA Tour clientele list, Davies says there is nothing quite as rewarding as watching his junior protégés take their game to another level.
"Absolutely, it's an awesome feeling to see these kids make progress," Davies says. "It's unbelievable seeing how fast they can change. Watching the kids succeed is as rewarding as anything I do with the pros."
The Core Golf Junior Academy offers education and comprehensive golf development in every facet of the game to high-school-age and post-graduate players dedicated to becoming elite players and responsible world citizens. Students of the Core Golf Junior Academy attend
Windermere Preparatory School , play on Florida's top junior tours where they are exposed to top college golf coaches, and they are guided through the scholarship process.
Nike Golf Canada is the official sponsor of the Core Golf Academy and supplies apparel, equipment, balls and footwear to Core Golf Academy instructors and to Core Golf Junior Academy students.
